BUET Admission Test Paper Assessment Method:
The time was August 2014. I joined as an assistant professor to remove the stigma of being a lecturer. Shortly after, I received a letter from the then president of the admission test stating that I would be checking the next BUET admission test papers of students.
And if I have a close relative who is an examinee, I have been asked to inform in writing. In a word, he has mentioned all kinds of relatives.
I was very proud to receive the letter thinking that I have heard so many stories about how this admission test papers is seen in the air for so long, so this time I will see with my own eyes what actually happens there! So since I didn't have any relatives, I went straight to the place where the register would be seen the day after the admission test.
I went and saw the security system from a long distance and all the doors and windows were sealed. I showed up a little ahead of time, so everything was still closed, because the President had not come yet. After the president arrived, he opened all the doors and windows with the help of the guard and then we entered.
Shortly after my appointment as a lecturer in 2011, I was assigned to the room on the day of the admission test. Ever since then, there has been speculation that it would be better to be in the evaluation, since only senior professors from the assistant professors are involved in the evaluation.
I was very happy to be there that day after the waiting period, but that joy did not last long because the real work started.
This is the reason why every seal is opened every morning, all the doors and windows are sealed at noon, it is opened again in the afternoon and at night it is sealed again so that there is no risk of any kind.
Now let's come to the evaluation system, those senior teachers who only gave marks in the papers, a question would come to us after seeing two teachers to examine it thoroughly.
We, like 20 teachers, would carefully examine each paper to see if there were any marks in any question or if there were any inconsistencies in the question. If all was well, we would add physics, chemistry and mathematics marks separately.
In this way, if some papers were submitted in a couple of days, we would check those books again, then two technicians skilled in computer would enter the paper numbers in two different programming software on two different computers, because if we enter the same number later when we check again. If so, it can be assumed that it is OK.
In this way, the senior sirs twice, that is, 120 people, after giving good marks to 60 questions and after our two tests, after entering the data in the computer, the hardest thing to do is to serialize these ten or twelve thousand exam papers, this would also be done according to an algorithm.
We used to put thousands of paeprs together in many big boxes, for example, the book codes that start with 1000 are in one box like this. Then I would do all the serials from thousands to hundreds, doing this would make everyone's waistline worse, but what else to do, many would also appeal to the president that he wants release, if the president understands the situation is bad, he would release and look for someone else.
That's how the funniest part, Echo checking, started when it all came down to the same serial, I had a lot of fun with it. What we used to do with this method was to check if the numbers entered by the two technicians were correct, because no matter how many times we look at the papers and no matter how many times we scrutiny, if we enter the numbers incorrectly in the computer, everything will go wrong.
So we would divide the serialized books with the numbers printed from the two programs into small groups of three, then one would say the numbers of the three subjects from the original exam paper and the other two would match the print out taken from the computer they had, if they heard the same number. If you get and see the same number in their print out then all is considered to be OK. So this method is called eco checking.
When he said the number, foam would come out of his mouth and after saying it for a long time, Fatig would come and see one and say another, it was very fun at that time. After doing this, my head would relax for a few days. In this way, being 100% sure, judging everyone equally, we ended our responsibility without leaving any inconsistencies anywhere.
Since then I have received letters every year and worked with utmost sincerity, the last time I was assigned the number in the book in 2016, I saw two questions in Physics but if the answer is correct then the full number was not a concern but if not completely correct then give judgment considering the number. Had it been that more sirs would have seen later if I was right.
This is how we look at our records and while performing this duty, everyone has the same thought that no examinees life should be ruined due to his negligence, we are not responsible for this, so we worked so hard, we felt peace even after so much hardship. Therefore, it can be said with great confidence that there is no such assessment book anywhere in the world.
However, after our echo checking, Dean Sir started decoding in the morning, which means that after the admission test, only a few Deans put a code on the notebook instead of the roll number of the examinee, and cut the roll number and keep it to themselves.
This is coding, and after all the steps have been completed correctly, the code that was placed opposite the roll number is converted back to the roll number. So no one knows which book, boy or girl, could be understood when examining the notebook, but those of us who practiced a little wicked intellect used to guess by looking at the handwriting which could be the car The girls are!
So the decoding started in the morning and for many nights the seniors used to do it by cutting off all communication with outsiders. So it took many nights to announce the results of BUET. In this way, we conduct the admission test in BUET with a lot of patience and conviction, so those who pass are 100 percent pure, there is no doubt about it.
So the selected students can proudly say that they have become Buetians only on their own merits, not on anyone's mercy or deception.
Elsewhere in the country, when I see the test being postponed, I think we have no hesitation in just practicing the imperfect method. But after being selected in this way, when he is a murderer, it seems that all our efforts have been in vain.
In the end, I would like to say that those who are going to be admitted in BUET this time should be admitted in a healthy, beautiful and safest BUET campus and let BUET campus be vibrant and enlightened in their walk and become BUET in the footsteps of everyone.
